Three of My Favorite Things

One of my last buy for 2018 was a Yeezy Season 6 hoodie. It wasn’t a planned buy but the quality of the fabric made me buy the hoodie in an instant. Also I’m not a Yeezy connoisseur at all, I just tried on the hoodie and really wanted it therefore I got it. And according to my StyleBook app, I wore the hoodie approximately 10 times a month starting from 1st of January 2019.

My favorite thing about the hoodie is the hood itself. That thing is so massive so it can cover my head and more. Also because of the heavy weight of the fabric, when I bike, the wind won’t blow the hood off of my head. Hands down, this is my favorite sweatshirt in my wardrobe. Do I think the price tag matches the quality? Probably not, but this is one of those indulgent items that I’m so happy I was able to buy.

I also have been wearing my Celine Trio bag a lot. Also to work (I carry a backpack too to fit my work laptop), since I like to walk around in the city center during my lunch break. I missed it so much. This bag is so easy to use and so light weight. Unfortunately I was in such a rush and bad temperament when I bought it so I forgot to ask if they still had the one with the old logo in stock. Oh well, what matters is the functionality of the bag itself. One thing to note, the inside is no longer lined with wool, it’s now some kind of ruled leather? I don’t even know.

Also sometime by the end of last year, I bought a new biker boots. This pair is from Nubikk. I asked Deo whether or not I should buy the boots and he said he didn’t like them. But I didn’t care and bought them anyway because finding this kind of boots in gold hardware is trickier than the ones in silver. Once I bought them and worn them with a lot of different outfits, Deo admitted to me that he’s glad I bought the boots anyway because he really likes them now. Funny how his taste changed haha. Good thing I didn’t listen to him 😉

March 2019 Shopping

Petit Bateau white tank

If there’s one thing people in Brabant are excited about, you can bet your ass it’s carnival. This thing runs from Friday until Tuesday where people just dress up in costumes and drink from dawn to dusk. Halloween, but not creepy. Halloween, but five freaking days. I do tend to join the festivities at the office though. So I had to buy stuff to dress up according to our theme of the year. This year we’re doing Britney Spears. And I went as Britney from “Me Against the Music” music video. Funnily enough, only a white tank top is what’s missing from my ensemble hahaha so I got this to perfect my outfit.

Cashmere turtle neck sweater

Do you believe me if I say I got bullied by Deo to buy the sweater? Hahaha. It’s hard to believe, I know. I was so stubborn to not spend money on shopping during our Copenhagen trip. But the deal was too good to be true. Maybe you remember when I posted that I’m slowly rebuilding my cashmere collection. And I can’t deny that this is a really good addition. I love the neckline so much. For about €40.00 I feel like I can do worse. It’s annoying to admit to him that he’s right about this purchase haha.

H&M sweater

The color of this sweater shouts spring to me. It’s actually quite more green/mint irl. And since I live in this kind of sweater, I really don’t mind stocking up. Hoodies and sweaters are what made up my uniform. The material is soft enough to not have to wear anything underneath. I’m happy I branch out of my neutral zone.

G-Star RAW cargo pants

Last week Deo told me to kick him if he buys another top instead of pants. So I also told him please kick me if I buy another pair of pants instead of tops. But guess what, we went shopping and he bought himself another hoodie whilst I purchased myself these cargo pants. I’ve been looking for a pair though but I thought I had my eye set on the Daily Paper pair. However, their branding on the pants is just too obnoxious. Also I scored these pants for half off.

So yea, March is the month when I shop the most so far. Hopefully April will chill out a bit. But it’s my birthday month so I’m not too optimistic about not treating myself hahaha.

Weekend Money Diaries: Free Pizza

Friday

12:30 PM: I had to go back to the store to make a return. I needed a top hat for my Carnival (like Halloween but 5 days long) costume but apparently there’s one at the office laying around that I can borrow. So I can get my €3.95 back.

1:10 PM: Transferred €10.00 to my colleague for paying my lunch. We tend to just pool cash together to pay for lunch but I never have cash. So my colleague had to front me my lunch money. I had a very delicious salmon & shrimp sandwich.

2:00 PM: My return for my online order has arrived. So now I have to pay for the item that I decided to keep. It’s a tank top from Petit Bateau that I also need for my costume. The item that I keep is €17.95. It’s a bit much if I were to only wear it once but it’s a generic item that I can keep in my closet and wear often. The material is also very thick and feels like a good quality item.

5:30 PM: Party time. My office always throw a party whenever it’s Carnival weekend. So I stayed until midnight, until other people started moving to a bar in the city center. Partying at the office is free of charge because all drinks & snacks are provided.

Total for the day: €24.00

Saturday

9:30 AM: I woke up relatively early for weekend. I was up since 7:30 but stayed in bed for two more hours. Weekend is for cuddling in bed. But I let my husband went back to bed and I made my way to the kitchen for a cup of coffee.

10:20 AM: Time for me to get something to eat. I cooked myself some instant noodle since I didn’t feel like going to the grocery store. I have a stash of emergency noodles for times like this haha.

1:00 PM: Another cup of coffee please, thank you.

2:40 PM: Deo ordered some food for us. He bought himself some chicken and he got me a grilled fish. So we both ate lunch together. We could have gone to the supermarket and cook. But he wanted to splurge on something nice. Don’t mind if I do hahahaha.

4:00 PM: Went to my friend’s place for her birthday get together as well as house warming. She said she’s gonna provide pizza. Yes!

6:30 PM: PIZZAAAAAAA and some chicken wings!

11:00 PM: Deo and I went home last from my friend’s house because we played Supers Smash Bros for HOURS. Even until all the other friends left lmao. It’s just more fun to play with more people.

Total for the day: €0

Sunday

10:00 AM: Same like yesterday. Stayed in bed for a few hours scrolling on my phone. And sleep. And scroll. And finally coffee.

1:20 PM: My lunch was a leftover from yesterday. I still had the fish and some rice. Deo ordered bagels for himself. He also ordered one extra for me even though I said I didn’t want it. He ended up eating both lol (not one after each other though).

3:00 PM: My friend sent me a payment request for the birthday gift for yesterday. We chipped in each €25.00.

5:30 PM: We decided to go out to see Vice at the cinema. Deo and I both subscribe to a movie pass so we can watch any movie anytime for a monthly price. It’s a pretty good deal considering we both love to watch movies and our friends also subscribe to the same cinema so we can hang out more often with our friends.

7:30 PM: Pre movie snack/dinner time! I’ve been wanting to eat hot wings from KFC for months. Deo agreed to go to KFC with me even though he has sworn to not eat hot wings ever again haha. We’re still not 100% sure but he thought he got food poisoning once from their hot wings. Also even though he’s not a big fan of KFC he was kindly fronting me for dinner. Which made me pay €0 for my hot wings and fries.

8:50 PM: Movie time. Cya~

11:30 PM: Lol I fell asleep during the movie. The story was great however I wasn’t a big fan of the directing style. So I got bored halfway. I woke myself up with my snore lmao. I think I’m going to watch this movie again when I’m not as sleepy as I was.

Total of the day: €25.00

Total breakdown:
Food: €10.00
Shopping: €17.95
Gift: €25.00
Return: +€3.95

Grand total: €49.00

How do I feel about my spending this weekend? I feel pretty good actually! Although I did spend money for shopping but it was for an event that I find joy in participating. And my biggest spend of all was for a gift for one of my close friends. All in all it wasn’t a bad spend weekend.

19 in 2019 Update: February

4. BUY A NEW PARKA

Once upon a time (2015, I think?), I bought a very plush thick and warm parka from Zara. I love that parka to bits because of the warmth it gives me even during the coldest days here in The Netherlands. The hood is big enough and heavy enough to not get blown up while I bike. The color is black which matches with every single thing I own. The price is not abnormally expensive. I pretty much wore that parka to bits until the zipper broke.

I took it as a sign that maybe it’s time to invest in a new parka from Canada Goose. But… I did the unthinkable… I brought my Zara parka to the tailor to get the zipper replaced. And now it’s functioning like a normal parka and I fell in love all over again. So moral of the story is I ain’t buying a new 1000€ jacket because my 100€ one is still perfect.

8. PAY SOMEONE TO DO OUR TAXES

Tax season is coming up and I still haven’t registered to get someone to work on my tax return. The only reason why I’m even considering this is because my Dutch is not sufficient for paperworks like this. Buuuut… I have been getting by with the help of my husband to fill my tax returns up until now. Honestly I just want to throw money at the problem but also want to save money haha. I’m still indecisive about this decision.

10. NO BUY MAKEUP

So far I haven’t bought any makeup nor have I been tempted to buy anything other than HEMA BAE collection. Honestly, I’m only tempted because of the aesthetic and low price. And there is nothing I need in terms of makeup for probably the next 893719831 years. I still have a full pan of NARS blush that I bought in 2012. I’m hoping this is going to be one of the points that isn’t too hard to complete.

11. VISIT MY FAMILY

This month I went to Indonesia for 6 days. A very short trip due to a very urgent matter. This year we learned that my mom’s cancer came back. She had breast cancer in 2013 and was treated for that in China. And now the cancer is attacking her spine. My trip was more to see her rather than helping registration or whatever. I’m glad I was in the position to just fly at a moment notice to see my family when it’s needed.

Everything is going okay with my mom. We’re happy that she’s now getting the treatment that she needs. In June I will be back to Indonesia for three weeks so I can’t wait to see her and my family again.

14. NO ONLINE SHOPPING FOR CLOTHES

This is a fail. Due to shopping in store just gives me headache. And there’s no way you’re finding the best deal without consulting to the internet first. Like last month I was in need to replace my sweaters and I got a very good deal shopping online which I wouldn’t get in store. So yea at this day and age, there’s no point on denying how simple it is to shop online. I just added this point on my 19 of 2019 because I grew tired of returning items every week. So as long as I reduce the amount of ordering online, shopping online can be helpful than cumbersome.
