Drafting this post, I’m quite glad that I pretty much have everything that I’m planning to wear in the S/S. Or rather, I plan to just wear the stuff that I already own because it’s not sustainable to revamp the wardrobe every season. As much as I like to spend my time thinking about clothes, it’s hardly justifiable to restart my wardrobe twice a year.
What I’m trying to do this time is to pack all other clothes that I don’t plan on wearing in the Spring and Summer. And only grab from the storage if really necessary. So I can have less crowded wardrobe and I can actually remember which clothes I currently have on rotation.
Cotton long-sleeve t-shirt
Black cross body bag
I’m so excited to start wearing more of my Carhartt jacket, Isabel Marant Dicker boots, and my Zara midi dress. Because I stopped wearing some of my clothes during the colder seasons, I always feel like I get to wear ‘new’ clothes without buying more stuff when it’s warmer.
Do you have any piece of clothing that you can’t wait to wear again once the weather gets warmer?
After tallying how much money I spent so far in 2019, I feel like I’m regaining control in terms of shopping impulse. Okay, I did spend €850 for a bag. I know it’s an exorbitant amount of money to spend on a small cross body bag. But it was somewhat a planned purchase. I knew 2019 is going to be the year that I bring that bag back to my life. I also feel like 2019 is the year that I finally buy the things I have been meaning to get for yonks. Some of them are below.
Ace & Tate Allen Sunnies
I have been wearing glasses since I was 8, so give or take 18 years. Yet I still don’t have prescription sunglasses. It’s quite bonkers, isn’t it? (Yes). I have been putting off buying prescription sunglasses for years. Not quite sure why. I guess I grew tired of either having to wear contacts if I want to wear sunglasses or I grew tired of wearing my sunglasses over my normal glasses. It’s time to stop being weird.
Black Zipped Hoodie
I’m still not 100% sure which hoodie I’ll buy to be honest. Those two options are the ones currently on sale on Zalando. So thats why they’re there. I’m still trying to not buy things online if I can help it. So I might visit the shops or an outlet soonish to look for a hoodie. Pro tip, I’ll start looking on the kids section because they tend to be cheaper. Just to put into context why I want a zipped hoodie is because I only have one right now that I bought 7 years ago. I want a bit of variety.
I need a new cap that fits. Does it need to be Balenciaga? No of course not hahaha. Do I want it to be Balenciaga? Yea, kinda. I’m 95% I won’t be buying this, although I’m 100% I’ll be buying a new cap. Do you sense the dilemma here?
3-Tier Stainless Steel Indian-Tiffin
I’ve been trying to bring my own lunch to work. My company does provide lunch so it’s not necessary for me to do this. But sometimes I just want to eat some warm meal. We do have the salad bar and a selection ingredients to make sandwich. But yea, nothing can beat chicken with rice sometimes so I want a lunchbox to bring the rice, the chicken, the hot sauce, and the veggies separately. I hate plastic containers because they’re hard to wash. Let’s see how this one fares. Although it’s gonna be Ramadan next week, so there’s no need for me to bring lunch LMAO.
Apple Watch Leather Strap
This is definitely not a need because it’s not like I can’t wear my watch without buying leather strap. I just feel like sometimes my outfit is way too dressy to wear the sport band that comes with the watch. But I haven’t decided which one I’ll go for in terms of texture, color, and finish. I have the tendency to overthink my purchases and this one is no different.
I meant to write up this post in the month of March when it’s exactly a year after my wedding day. But life got in the way or I sabotaged myself time to actually draft and post this post. So here we are, in the end of April 2019. But I still would like to journal about the things that I love about my wedding last year.
Family & Friends
As someone who lives far away from home, which equals to living far away from family & close friends, being with them was one of the things I was looking forward to. All my extended families were present during our reception and my closest friends were all there dressed in uniform.
My mom was extremely excited to arrange this whole ceremony. I was happy that she was able to enjoy every single decision. After everything was done she even daydream about planning another wedding. For whom? I don’t know hahahaha.
I wasn’t that bride who stressed over her wedding dress. Which I was so thankful for. I did not want to pay an exorbitant amount of money for a dress that I will use once in my life. Despite the importance of the dress.
The story of how my dress came to life was quite funny actually. My mom and I decided to go for tailor made dress because we can get it cheaper that way. However, my mom doesn’t have my body measurements to give to the tailor so I had to provide her with that. But I have no clue how to even measure myself hahaha. So when I visited a friend in NYC in 2017, my friend, who’s a fashion designer, measured me. What a crazy ride?!
My mom’s friend did the embellishments on the bodice. Since I had about 5 days from the day I arrived in Indonesia to my reception day, we did not have enough time to make some adjustments. So I had to wear two corsets underneath the dress to make it fit!
The Fact That We Got Married
Hahahaha of course the main thing that I love about our wedding is the fact that we got married! Deo is the most beautiful human being on planet earth and I can’t imagine living my life without him.
I woke up every day feeling safe and glad that I have him next to me. It’s so cheesy and you probably feel sick reading this but I don’t write this kind of thing everyday so just bear with this paragraph haha.
One of my 19 of 2019 is to not buy new shoes. A pledge I successfully kept until mid April 2019. Believe me, there were weak moments when I ordered a pair of boots from Zalando and then quickly cancelled the order because I came to my senses about 2 seconds after I hit order. But I eventually caved for a pair of wedges espadrilles. Which to be fair I have wanted for at least a year if not two.
I was waiting for the longest time for Zalando to stock up the black pair. Because I felt like that’s the only sensible choice for me and my style. Not to mention that black requires zero to low maintenance effort. But I ended up going for the cream colored shoes instead since the choice from Zalando is only that or navy. And I thoroughly enjoy shopping from Zalando due to their customer service.
Size wise, I went for 37 instead of 38. I thought for the longest time that I’m a true 38. But I have been buying 37 shoes for my last few shoe purchases so I don’t even know what size my feet are anymore. I guess, 37.5? At least with this size my feet don’t flop around in the shoes when I walk.
Since I haven’t had these for long, I can’t vouch for the durability. However, despite the height they’re plenty comfortable. I road tested these shoes for walking around for > 13.000 steps and didn’t notice discomfort on my arch. Unfortunately I can’t say the same for the bottom of my feet. The canvas rubs my feet uncomfortably so I might need to add some kind of foot petals to fix this.
Also after wearing them for 3 days in a row, they’re no longer look as crips so I have cleaned them with some soapy water using toothbrush. I might need to do this quite frequently but I don’t really mind that. I guess as I grow older I’m starting to see the small things really do make an outfit.
So yea, this is going to be my Summer shoes of choice. I feel very feminine and put together when I wear them and that’s something I missed in my Summer wardrobe.
